We have the pleasure to announce a distinguished scholar Professor Wilfredo Vidal Alangui as key note speaker for MAPS International Conference (MIC) 2017 – “Facing the Future: challenges and opportunities for youth in the region: Education, Entrepreneurship, Governance” – to be held in the Maldives from 10th to 11th of September 2017.

Professor Wilfredo Vidal Alangui is a prominent academic in the field of education. He is instrumental in developing an Indigenous Curriculum Framework in support of the Indigenous Peoples’ Education program of the Department of Education in the Philippines. His research interest is mainly on the interplay of mathematics/mathematics education, and culture encompassing disciplines like philosophy, anthropology, sociology, history and ecology. He has authored/co-authored 3 books that were published by the UP Center for Integrative and Development Studies and the Department of Education and Culture (1994-1997) and co-edited 2 books on sustainable resource management by indigenous peoples published by Tebtebba Foundation (2010-2011).

Currently, Wilfredo Vidal Alangui a professor of mathematics at the College of Science, University of the Philippines Baguio (UP Baguio) and at present works on Inclusive Education and Indigenous Peoples’ education.
