Whilst the saying ‘money doesn’t buy you happiness’ still holds true, a recent research report published by the National Academy of Sciences (US) suggests that being able to use your wealth to free up your time DOES seem to make people happier!

One well-known route to being able to afford more free time is to increase your earnings potential, though developing your skills portfolio and gaining additional qualifications. A variety of government and non-government reports from across the world have shown that qualified individuals earn more than unqualified individuals. What’s more, various research has found that the higher the qualification, the more average earnings increases.

According to the Chartered Management Institute, business, management and leadership qualifications have been shown to be some of the best qualification types for increasing earnings, alongside professional courses such as Accounting.

A 2013 report from the Association of MBAs found that individuals holding good quality MBA qualifications earn very significantly more than average – three times the average salary in the UK for example, at $82,000 per year!

In the Maldives, various organizations and government departments directly link salary to qualification attainment, with other companies also linking promotions to specific levels of qualification. Whilst it’s not essential to be qualified to be a success here, it certainly helps!
