Course Description
This intermediate certificate is part of the newly introduced ACCA Foundations in Accountancy suite of awards. It is suitable for those students who have completed the Introductory Certificate and wish to continue on to the next level or anyone looking to do an intermediate level qualification in accounting and finance. The ability level is broadly equivalent to GCSE level.

The subjects/units studied in this course forms part of the subjects/units of the ACCA Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) course, which is also included within the ACCA Foundation in Accountancy suite of awards.

MAPS College will begin to offer this course on MAPS Fast Track from September 2011 onwards as a standalone course.

Awarding Body
Certificate for this course will be awarded by the the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

MNQF Level
Level 4 Certificate (subject to the MQA approval)

Academic Requirements
ACCA does not require any previous academic qualifications to study for this certificate. However to get the Certificate recognized under MNQF one of the following entry requirements (subject to MQA approval) may be necessary:

Candidates without the above requirements shall be evaluated on an individual basis, utilizing individual interviews to judge candidates’ ability to follow this course.

Course Structure
Compulsory Subjects:

  • Foundations in Professionalism (Online module that needs to be completed once. More)
  • Maintaining Financial Records (FA2)
  • Managing Costs and Finances (MA2)

There are no Optional Subjects.

Duration: 2 months on the MAPS Fast Track

Intakes: Every month (from September 2011)

Course Assessments
All subjects will be assessed by time constrained online computer based exams that are set and marked by ACCA, UK. The exams will be conducted and invigilated by MAPS College.

Pathway
Students who achieve the ACCA Intermediate Certificate in Financial and Management Accounting may use it as a standalone qualification which would allow them to work in a variety of accounts-support roles in small to medium size organizations. Alternatively, students can continue to work through to the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business.
