Course Description
This advanced diploma course is the Applied Skills section of the ACCA Qualification. The purpose of the ACCA Qualification is to develop accounting knowledge and skills as well as professional values of students to build a successful career as a finance professional in any sector.

The course focuses strongly on professional values, ethics, and governance as these are essential because the profession is moving towards strengthened codes of conduct, regulation and legislation. And there is an increased focus on professionalism and ethics in accounting. Professionalism and ethics is examined at the highest level in the ACCA Qualification.

The ability level is broadly equivalent to an undergraduate degree programme. The Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business is offered as a part of the ACCA qualification.

Certificate for this course will be awarded by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Academic Requirements
Applicants must completed ONE of the following academic requirements to be accepted into the course:

  • ACCA Certified Accounting Technician (CAT)
  • ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business
  • MNQF Level 5 qualification for which ACCA offers exemption for all subjects in the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business

Course Structure
Compulsory Subjects:

  • Professional Ethics (Online module that needs to be completed once. More)
  • Corporate and Business Law (LW)
  • Performance Management (PM)
  • Taxation (TX)
  • Financial Reporting (FR)
  • Audit and Assurance (AA)
  • Financial Management (FM)

There are no Optional Subjects.

Duration: 1.5 years (3 Semesters)

Credits: 154 credits

Intakes: January and July

Mode of Study: Face to Face (Male’ Campus only)

Course Assessments
All subjects will be assessed by time constrained exams that are set and marked by ACCA, UK. Corporate and Business Law (LW) is a computer-based exam. All other exams are currently written exams.

Pathway
Students who achieve the ACCA Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business may use it as a standalone qualification. Alternatively, students can continue to work through to the Professional Level  of the ACCA Qualification and at the same time obtain a  BSc Honours degree in Applied Accounting from the Oxford Brookes University.
