Course Description
Accounting professionals are the lifeblood of any organization. Accountants are always in demand and the fields or jobs that you can choose from are many. This means that there are a lot of opportunities for a career as an accountant and you will also have a lot of career choices. Every sector and every industry needs accountants.
The Edexcel BTEC HND in Accounting is a good stepping stone for a career in finance and accounting. It is suitable for those who want to obtain a solid foundation of knowledge in finance and accounting. It will provide students with knowledge and understanding of financial reporting, business finance, taxation in business, business and commercial laws, importance of auditing and with the theories of management. It will also enable students to apply the knowledge and theories in the real world businesses, while enhancing their technical skills and knowledge for critical analysis, business communication, presentation and evaluation. The course will also develop students’ ability for working with others and independently to take appropriate decisions.
The Higher National Diploma is one of the best-known BTEC qualifications that Edexcel, the UK’s largest awarding body, offers. It is an undergraduate qualification that is roughly equivalent to two third of a degree. The BTEC HND in Accounting is a course customized by BIMS, which has also received accreditation from the ACCA (see exemptions for more details).

Academic Requirements
Applicants must have completed ONE of the following:
» 3 O’ Levels including SSC passes (C or above)
» 2 A’ Levels pass (E or above)
» MNQF Level 4 qualification
» Completion of Lower Secondary Education and completion of Foundation Study at MNQF Level 4
» 20 years old and 1 pass in a Lower Secondary School Exam and 1 year work experience

There are no Optional Subjects.
Duration: 18 months (3 semesters) and 12 months (2 semesters) for students who have completed ACCA CAT.
Intakes: June and throughout the year
Course Assessments
Unit 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 12 and 14 will be assessed by time-constrained written exam. Unit 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, and 13 will be assessed by coursework (i.e. assignments, presentation, oral-test, case-studies, etc). Unit 15 and 16 will be assessed either by time-constrained written exam or by coursework.
All exams and assignments will be set and marked by MAPS College and externally verified by Edexcel.

After HND Progression
Get CAT T1 to T10 exemption Join ACCA Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business at MAPS College.
Get exemption for the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business Join the Oxford Brookes University BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting at MAPS College, which can be completed in 18 months (normal duration is 24 months) with the exemption received for the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business .
Join final year of a BBA programme Possibilities as per information available but students must directly confirm from the institution:
