Course Description
MAPS Certificate 1 in Information Technology course will provide the basic computing skills required to carry out secretarial and administrative jobs at organisations. The aim of the course is to produce students who would be able to efficiently use computers at the secretarial and administrative level in government offices as well as private organisations.

The subjects will be delivered through workshop sessions where students will be given a demonstrations and practical hands on activities.

Academic Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum entry requirements:

  • Completion of the 6th year of School AND ability to communicate in English language
  • 16 years old AND ability to communicate in English language

Candidates without the above requirements shall be evaluated on an individual basis, utilizing individual interviews to judge candidates’ ability to follow this course.

Course Structure
Compulsory Subjects:

  • Introduction to Windows File Management,Internet and email
  • Introduction to Word Processing
  • Introduction to Spreadsheet Management

There are no Optional Subjects.

Duration: 6 weeks

Credits: 12 credits

Intakes: Throughout the year.

Mode of Study Face to Face (Male’ Campus only)

Course Assessments
All subjects will be assessed by time constrained exams that are set and marked by MAPS College.

Students who achieve the MAPS Certificate 1 in Information Technology can continue to work through to the MAPS Certificate II in Information Technology.
