Course Description
MAPS Certificate 2 in Information Technology course will provide the intermediate level computing skills required to carry out secretarial and administrative jobs at organisations. The aim of the course is to produce students who would be able to efficiently use computers at the secretarial as well as managerial level in government offices as well as private organisations. The course will introduce students to the concepts of database management, presentation tools and basic graphics in addition to the skilled gained from previous level.

The subject will be delivered through workshop sessions where students will be given a demonstration and practical hands on activities.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum entry requirements:

Candidates without the above requirements shall be evaluated on an individual basis, utilizing individual interviews to judge candidates’ ability to follow this course.

Course Structure
Compulsory Subjects:

  • Introduction to Windows File Management,Internet and email
  • Introduction to Word Processing
  • Introduction to Spreadsheet Management
  • Introduction to Presentation Software
  • Introduction to Database Management
  • Introduction to Graphics

There are no Optional Subjects.

Duration: 3 months (15 weeks)

Credits: 40 credits

Intakes: Throughout the year.

Mode of Study: Face to Face (Male’ Campus only)

Course Assessments
All subjects will be assessed by time constrained exams that are set and marked by MAPS College.

Students who achieve the MAPS Certificate II in Information Technology can continue to work through to the MAPS Certificate 3 in Information Technology.
