Course Description

The Master of Public Administration is designed for current and future managers and leaders from across the civil service and allied sectors. The programme is tailor made for those working within the public sector across all job roles, to develop a strategic-level understanding of the sector and how to enhance the effectiveness of public service. The programme includes core content covering public service delivery and management; public governance, accountability and ethics; public budgeting and finance; as well as a range of optional units related to strategy, HR, operations, people management, economics, decision making, the management of projects, and public policy.

The programme content has been designed to be fully applicable to real world public service delivery and management, though the use of applied case studies, discussions, real world examples, and delivery contextualised specifically for the Maldives and its unique characteristics.

The programme is suitable for those in both operational and managerial roles from across all sectors and departments. Specialist units allow students to combine core public sector concepts with more specialised units applicable to a wide range of job roles. No prior knowledge of public-sector, or business-related functions is required, as each subject area includes foundational concepts relating to the unit of study, focussing on strategic-level application.

The programme is delivered fully online through evening-only classes, making it ideal for practicing professionals looking to take the next step in their careers.
