Course Description
ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business (RQF Level 4) qualification is part of the ACCA Foundations in Accountancy suite of awards. It can also be undertaken as the Applied Knowledge level of the ACCA Qualification leading to full membership of ACCA. It is suitable for those students who have completed the ACCA Diploma in Financial and Management Accounting (RQF Level 3) and wish to continue on to the next level or anyone looking to do an introductory qualification in accounting and finance, including school leavers or those already working in accounts-support roles.

Academic Requirements
To join the course within the Foundations in Accountancy suite of qualifications, applicants must meet the MQA entry requirements as follows:

  • Completion of ACCA Diploma in Financial and Management Accounting (RQF Level 3) or
  • MNQF Level 4 qualification in a related field or
  • 2 A level/HSSC passes or
  • MNQF Level 4 qualification in an unrelated field AND University Preparation Program or
    20 years old AND completion of secondary school AND 2 years of relevant work experience AND University Preparation Program

To join the programme within the Applied Knowledge level of the ACCA Qualification leading to full membership of ACCA, applicants must meet one of the ACCA entry requirements, as follows:

  • 2 A’level pass and 3 O’level pass (Must include O’Level English & Maths) or
  • Completion of ACCA Diploma in Financial and Management Accounting (RQF Level 3)

Course Structure
Compulsory Subjects:

  • Foundations in Professionalism (Online module that needs to be completed once. More)
  • Business and Technology (FBT / BT) (Note: This unit was called Accountant in Business (FAB / AB) until September 2020)
  • Management Accounting (FMA / MA)
  • Financial Accounting (FFA / FA)

There are no Optional Subjects.

Duration: 1 academic year

Credits: 59 credits

Intakes: January and July

Mode of Study: Face to Face (Male’ Campus only)

Course Assessments
All subjects will be assessed by time constrained online computer based exams that are set and marked by ACCA, UK. The exams will be conducted and invigilated by MAPS College.

Pathway
Students who achieve the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business may use it as a standalone qualification which would allow them to work in a variety of roles such as basic bookkeeping, trainee accountant in a commercial organisation or accounting practice and so on. Alternatively, students can continue to work through to the ACCA Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business (which is also the  Applied Skills Module of the ACCA Qualification.
