Course Description
The Master of Public Policy is the first public policy course available in the Maldives, and has been designed for individuals involved in the development, planning, analysis, implementation and consultation of public policy, across both the public sector, third sector, and those working within policy-aligned roles within the private sector.
The Master of Public Policy has been developed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of how effective policy setting and analysis should take place to ensure effective outcomes, with a strong emphasis on public consultation and social development woven into the course content. The programme includes core content covering Public Economics, Market Failure and Government Intervention; Public Policy Analysis and Evaluation; and Public Policy Design, Instruments and Regulation. The programme also includes optional modules related to a broad set of strategic-level concepts, such as leadership and change, project management, operations management, public administration, HR-related topics and finance.
The programme content has been designed to be fully applicable to real world public policy analysis and design, through the use of applied case studies, discussions, real world examples, and delivery contextualised specifically for the Maldives and its unique characteristics.
The programme is suitable for individuals currently, or who have career plans to work within direct policy-setting roles, as well as those operating within roles aligned with policy planning, implementation and analysis. No prior knowledge of public-policy, public-sector or business-related functions is required, as each subject area includes foundational concepts relating to the unit of study, focussing on strategic-level application.
The programme is delivered fully online through evening-only classes, making it ideal for practicing professionals looking to take the next step in their careers.
