Course Description
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is internationally recognized and is seen as a passport to a successful management career. The MBA provides students with knowledge of how people and processes operate within an organisation and the wider environment affecting those organisations. As the world moves towards a more corporate and service-oriented economy, earning an MBA has become an effective way of not only ensuring your employment, but also ensuring your success and marketability in an ever-evolving job market.

An MBA course will enhance the skills by developing the ability to work as an effective team member and to lead others. As part of the MBA programme, you will study Strategic Management, Strategic Marketing, Corporate Governance Concepts and Practices, Strategic Finance Issues and many more.

This qualification is awarded by the Australian Institute of Business.

Level 9 Masters Degree (view MQA approval – English, Dhivehi).

AIB Academic Requirements
Applicants who wish to undertake the MBA course, must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria for the first stage of the course, namely the Graduate Certificate in Management. The applicant must have ONE of the following:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (AQF Level 7) and at least 2 years relevant work experience
  • An Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree (AQF Level 6) or learning equivalent to an AQF Level 6 qualification and at least 3 years relevant work experience
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience, which includes at least 3 years middle to senior management experience or significant technical experience

Alternatively, applicants may get direct entry into the MBA, if they have ONE of the following:

  • a Bachelor’s degree (AQF Level 7) or equivalent in business/commerce or related discipline and at least 3 years relevant work experience
  • a Bachelor Honours degree, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma (AQF Level 8) or equivalent in any discipline and at least 3 years relevant work experience

Minimum Proficiency in English
Applicants whose first language is not English and who have not completed tertiary study in the English language, need to demonstrate proficiency in English by providing evidence of ONE of the following:

  • a score of 6.5 or better on the Academic IELTS (with no individual band lower than 6.0)
  • a score of 575 or better on the TOEFL
  • a score of 91 or better on the TOEFL IBT (International Benchmark Test)
  • a score of 234 or better on the TOEFL CBT (Computer Based Test)
  • a score of 58 or better on the Academic PTE (Pearson Test of English)
  • a score of 176 or better on the Cambridge English scale, CAE and CPE (from 2015)
  • an A Level qualification with a C grade or better in English in the CTC General Certificate of Education (GCE)
  • minimum 2 years full-time post-secondary study, where English was the language of instruction (i.e. teaching, assessment and examination were undertaken entirely in English)

Evidence of English language proficiency of any of the above is valid for two years up to the date of commencement at AIB.

MQA Academic requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree at MNQF level 7 (related field)
  • MNQF Level 8 Graduate Diploma (related field)
  • 25 years old, completion of a Level 5 Qualification (related field) AND 7 years of work experience in relevant field (of which 3.5 years of experience is obtained after completion of a Level 5 qualification)
  • 25 years old, completion of a Level 6 Qualification (related field) AND 6 years of work experience in relevant field (of which 3 years of experience is obtained after completion of a Level 6 qualification)

Course Assessment
The assessment for each subject (except for the Final Project) in the MBA is as follows:
» One examination
» One assignment

Students cannot pass the subject if they do not pass the exam.

Course Fee and Payment Plan

Application Fee: MVR 1,560/- (Inclusive of AIB’s Application fee of AUD$100)
If your application is successful, MRF 700/- of the application fee will be deducted from the first installment of your course fee.

Course Fee: MVR 94,500/- (Inclusive of AIB’s examination fees of AUD$2,640)

The following payment plan is as follows:
1st installment: MVR 15,000/-
Ten equal monthly payments of MVR 7,950/-

Students will need to purchase their own textbooks (textbook fees are not included in the fees above). Reductions in course fees will apply for students who have exemptions, depending on the number of exemptions granted.

Pathway
Students who complete the AIB’s MBA course may use it as a standalone professional qualification or progress on to a Doctorate degree programme.
