MAPS College and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the globally recognised UK-based professional body for management, have signed a partnership agreement bringing world-leading CMI qualifications to the Maldives for the first time.

The partnership includes a Dual Accreditation agreement, meaning students who complete any of MAPS College’s business-related bachelor’s degree programmes will also earn the CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership on achievement of the CMI Learning Outcomes, highlighting the quality and relevance of the College’s existing qualifications in building management and leadership skills.

By partnering with CMI, MAPS College joins a prestigious group of institutions worldwide – including the University of London, Deakin University, Cranfield University, York University and the University of Leeds in providing their graduates with dual accreditation from CMI.

The newly signed partnership also brings CMI qualifications to the Maldives for the first time, allowing individuals and companies to enrol themselves or their staff in globally recognised management training programmes.

The Chartered Management Institute, founded in 1947, is the only chartered institute for management studies, holding the Royal Charter for Management. CMI supports managers around the world with training, qualifications, and insights aimed at raising the number and standard of professionally qualified managers. CMI also develops and oversees the professional standards for management in the UK, which underpin the competencies needed to be an effective manager and serve as the foundation for all CMI qualifications.

As part of this partnership, students enrolled in the CMI-accredited qualifications at MAPS College, as well as individuals pursuing CMI qualifications through MAPS, will gain access to a wealth of CMI resources and will become members of the CMI Professional Body for the duration of their studies, joining a global community of 180,000 members.

Dual Accreditation

Students enrolled in any of the business-related bachelor’s degrees at MAPS College – including Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Project Management, Tourism Management, and Procurement, Logistics & Supply Chain Management – will receive the CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership upon completion of their studies, provided they meet the CMI Learning Objectives embedded within the MAPS qualifications. This certificate serves as a valuable endorsement of management skills, supporting graduates in their employment and professional development throughout their careers. As an internationally recognised qualification, a CMI certificate is highly portable and valued by employers around the world.

Studying CMI Qualifications at MAPS College

  • CMI Level 5 Award in Management and Leadership: This programme includes one core unit, covering either principles of management and leadership in an organizational context or principles of developing, managing, and leading individuals and teams to achieve success.
  • CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership: This programme consists of two core units – principles of management and leadership in an organizational context and principles of developing, managing, and leading individuals and teams to achieve success.

The Award takes just 4 weeks to complete, and the Certificate takes 8 weeks to complete. To accommodate working professionals, delivery is available 100% online, making it accessible across the Maldives.
