MAPS College is proud to announce that it has been approved as an International Partner of the University of Bedfordshire. The partnership was officially announced to the public by Deputy Rector Mr. Abdul Azeez Ibrahim at a press conference held on 29 November at MAPS College.

The partnership allows MAPS College to deliver the approved University of Bedfordshire courses to students in the Maldives for the first time.

The partnership will commence with the delivery of two Bachelors degree courses, the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting and the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business Administration (Top-up) which will both begin in February 2017 at MAPS College.

The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting course is delivered over three years, and provides students with both a University of Bedfordshire Bachelors degree, and exemptions from ACCA units F1-F9, providing students with the maximum ACCA exemptions available at undergraduate level. Students may enter the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting course after completing their A’Levels. Students may also be eligible to enter directly into the second or third year of the course if they have achieved specific ACCA qualifications already.

The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business Administration course allows students who have already completed the ABE Level 6 Diploma or the BTEC HND in a business-related area to enter directly into the final year of the Bachelors degree, completing the Degree in just 8 months (2 semesters). Students who have not yet completed the ABE Level 6 Diploma or the BTEC HND can undertake those programmes at MAPS College first, to cover Year 1 and Year 2 of the Bachelors degree content.

Commenting on the new partnership and courses, Alan Murphy, Director of International Partnerships at the University of Bedfordshire noted that “We are delighted to be working with MAPS College to offer our qualifications in the Maldives for the first time. The courses have been designed to provide future leaders and managers with the hands-on, practice-based learning experiences that employers are seeking. And our rigorous quality assurance processes are designed to ensure all our students receive the same high quality learning experiences, wherever our programmes are delivered.”

The new Bachelors degrees are fully approved by the Maldives Qualification Authority, providing students with a qualification that is valued by employers in the Maldives, UK and internationally.
