Course Description
The Diploma in Information Technology provides students with the foundations to develop in-depth knowledge and practical, hands-on expertise in the design, implementation and management of an organisation’s technology infrastructure and support for the people who use it.
There are two entry routes to this course. Students gaining entry into IT Diploma programme after completing their A Levels or MAPS Advanced Certificate in Information Technology course can complete this diploma course in 1 year while students students who gain entry after completing their O Levels or MAPS Certificate III in Information Technology would require 2 years to complete this course.

1 Year Programme: Academic Requirements
Applicant must meet at least one of the following minimum entry requirements:
- MAPS Level 4 Advanced Certificate in Information Technology
- 2 A’ Level passes (E or above) or HSSC passes (C or above)
- MNQF Level 4 Qualification (related field)
- 20 years old AND completion of the 10th year of School AND 2 years of work experience in relevant field, and successful completion of an MQA approved University Preparation Program.
Students must have a good understanding of IT before commencing this course. Students without prior IT qualifications or experience are recommended to undertake the MAPS Level 4 Advanced Certificate in Information Technology or the MAPS Diploma in Information Technology (2 year programme) instead.
2 Year Programme: Academic Requirements
Applicant must meet at least one of the following minimum entry requirements:
- 3 O Level passes (C or above) including SSC or equivalent
- MNQF Level 3 Qualification, such as the MAPS Certificate 3 in Information Technology
- 18 years old AND 1 year work experience AND ability to communicate in English language
Minimum Proficiency in English
Applicants joining a degree programme at MNQF Level 7 must meet one of the following minimum requirements:

One Year MAPS Diploma in Information Technology (for students who gain entry after completing A Levels or MAPS Foundation Studies in Information Technology)

All the units are assessed by time-constrained written exam and by coursework. (i.e. assignments, presentation, oral-test, case-studies, etc).

Student who complete MAPS Diploma in Information Technology course can directly join the MAPS Associate’s Degree Course or join the Second Year of the MAPS BSc in Information Technology degree programme.
