From September 2011 students interested in completing their ACCA Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) at MAPS College has two routes available to them (subject to approval from MQA):
→ the normal route which will take 18 months for O Level students and 12 months for A Level students to complete the ACCA CAT.
→ the Fast Track which will take 12 months for O Level students and 10 months for A level students to complete the ACCA CAT without any breaks.
On both the normal and the Fast Track students will be studying the same syllabus and will sit on the same examinations. Additionally same number of contact hours, credits and learning hours will be maintained. The only differences are that the Fast Track would be very intensive as the same content will be delivered in a shorter period of time and there would not be any breaks in between the courses if students wants to complete 5 courses from below in 12 months.
Alternatively if students wish they can take a break of desired length in between the courses as intakes for all courses on the Fast Track are very frequent, almost once every month.
Students enrolled on the Fast Track will be doing the following standalone courses:
» ACCA Introductory Certificate in Financial and Management Accounting – 2 months
» ACCA Intermediate Certificate in Financial and Management Accounting – 2 months
» ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business – 6 months
Two of the following specialization certificates:
» ACCA Certificate in Foundations in Audit – 1 month
» ACCA Certificate in Foundations in Taxation – 1 month
» ACCA Certificate in Foundations in Financial Management – 1 month
On successful completion of 5 courses from above and the Foundations in Practical Experience Requirements (FPER), which includes 12 months work experience and completion of the FPER Record), students will be awarded the title Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) from ACCA.
